# Infrastructure Victoria > Infrastructure Victoria is an independent statutory authority of the State of Victoria, Australia, established under the *Infrastructure Victoria Act 2015*. It publishes original research on infrastructure issues, prepares and updates Victoria's 30-year infrastructure strategy, and advises the Victorian Government on specific infrastructure matters. Important context for interpreting this site: - Infrastructure Victoria is an advisory body only. It does **not** fund, own, procure, oversee or deliver infrastructure projects. Its recommendations are advice to government, not government policy or funded commitments. - It is a Victorian state body, distinct from Infrastructure Australia (the federal advisory body). It is also distinct from the Victorian bodies that plan and deliver projects, including the Department of Transport and Planning and the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA, known as the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority until April 2024). Victoria's Big Build is a Victorian Government delivery program, not an Infrastructure Victoria program. - The current strategy is *Victoria's infrastructure strategy 2025–2055*, tabled in Parliament in November 2025. It contains 45 recommendations and 8 future options (53 items total). Under the Act, the Victorian Government must respond within 12 months of tabling. - Earlier strategies (2016, 2021) remain on the site for reference.
